These terms govern your use of theverifiedregister.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What this site is

The Verified Register is a directory of home, care and professional service providers serving Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Potomac, Maryland. It also publishes guidance on how to check a provider’s credentials yourself.

It is an information service. It is not a broker, an agency, a contractor, a referral service that arranges work, or a party to anything you agree with a provider.

2. Businesses pay to be listed

STATED PLAINLY BECAUSE IT IS MATERIAL

Businesses pay an annual fee to appear in the directory at a paid tier, and pay more for featured placement. Featured listings appear above others in their category. Payment does not affect whether a business is verified, and a paid listing that fails verification is removed and refunded. We tell you this so that you can weigh it.

3. What a verification badge means

A badge means all of the following were true when the badge was issued:

The business signed an agreement consenting to be listed.

The credential relevant to its category was confirmed against the issuing public registry, not accepted as a document supplied by the business.

A current certificate of insurance was on file.

The verification had not passed its stated expiration date.

The badge shows the month the check was completed. Full detail is on our Verification Standards page.

4. What a verification badge does not mean

We do not verify service quality. A licensed, insured provider can still do poor work. Nothing on this site is a recommendation, an endorsement, a warranty or a guarantee of any provider.

We do not verify or guarantee pricing.

We do not screen individual employees. We record what a business tells us about its screening policy. The screening itself is done by the employer.

We do not monitor compliance between verification dates. A credential can lapse the day after it is confirmed.

We do not collect or validate reviews. This is not a review site.

You are responsible for your own decision about whom to hire. We tell you how to check a credential yourself, free, and we encourage you to do it.

5. No professional advice

Nothing on this site is legal, medical, financial, tax or construction advice, and using the site creates no professional relationship. Laws, program terms, credit amounts and statutory minimums change. Confirm anything you intend to rely on with the issuing authority or with a qualified professional.

6. Accuracy

We try to keep the site accurate and we correct errors when we learn of them. We do not warrant that everything is current or complete. If you find something wrong, tell us at hello@theverifiedregister.com and we will look into it.

If your business appears on this site and you would rather it did not, tell us and we will remove it.

7. Links to other sites

We link to public registries, government pages and, for verified listings, to providers’ own websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.

8. Your use of the site

Do not scrape, copy or republish the directory or its content without written permission.

Do not use the site to send unsolicited commercial messages to listed businesses.

Do not attempt to interfere with the site or gain unauthorized access to it.

Do not submit false information through our forms.

9. Our content

The text, guides, checklists and design on this site are our copyright. You may print and share the free guide for personal use, and referral organizations may distribute it unchanged. You may not sell it or present it as your own.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

10.1 The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

10.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your dealings with any provider listed on the site.

10.3 To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the site will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100).

10.4 Nothing here limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or anything that cannot be limited by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Changes

We may change these terms. If we do, we will update the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland. Any dispute will be brought in the state courts located in Montgomery County, Maryland.
