The Verified Register ("we", "us") operates theverifiedregister.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be comprehensive, and we have tried to keep it short by collecting as little as possible.
The short version
We collect your name, email address and ZIP code only when you give them to us in a form.
We use them to send you what you asked for and, if you agreed, occasional email.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with the businesses listed in the directory unless you ask us to.
You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at any time.

Information collected automatically
Our host records standard server logs, which include IP addresses and browser information, for security and reliability. We do not use these to build a profile of you.
Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts. That request goes to Google and reveals your IP address to them. If you would prefer that not to happen, blocking third party requests in your browser will not otherwise break the site.
We use no advertising pixels and no tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share anything for advertising. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect.
We use our host's server-side analytics, which counts page views, referring sites and rough visitor numbers by reading the same server logs described above. It sets no cookie, loads no script into your browser, and does not follow you to any other website. There is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing attached to you.
How we use it
To send you the guide or the response you asked for.
To send occasional email about the directory, if you opted in. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
To verify a business that has applied to be listed.
To keep records showing that we had permission to contact you.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and only so far as they need it:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
If you ask us to put you in touch with a listed business, we will pass on what you tell us to that business, and only that business. We will tell you when we do.
How long we keep it
Mailing list: until you unsubscribe, and then a suppression record so we do not email you again by mistake.
Enquiries: 24 months, then deleted.
Vendor verification records: for the life of the listing and three years afterwards, because our verification claims need to be auditable.
Your choices
Unsubscribe. Every marketing email has a link. It works immediately.
Ask what we hold. Email hello@theverifiedregister.com and we will tell you.
Ask us to correct or delete it. Email the same address. We will do it within 30 days unless we are required to keep something.
Opt out of a business listing. If your business is listed and you would rather it were not, tell us and we will remove it.
You do not have to give us any of this information. If you do not, we cannot send you the guide.
Security
We use reputable service providers, keep verification documents in access-controlled storage, and do not keep information we no longer need. No system is perfectly secure and we do not claim otherwise.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is material we will say so by email to anyone on our list.
